Welcome
Chris Chavez is a writer for Sports Illustrated and SI.com covering track and field, marathons and the Olympics. Chavez graduated from Marquette University in 2015. He previously wrote about running for ESPN.com and Flotrack.org.
Chavez started covering track and field at the age of 18 when he held up a camera in front of athletes at the 2012 Adidas Grand Prix and started asking Oscar Pistorius questions about preparation for the 2012 Olympics. A few years later, Chavez would be sitting down one-on-one with the likes of Usain Bolt and many other of the world's best athletes. When he's not in front of a camera or typing away on a computer, Chavez can most likely be found singing something from "Hamilton: The Musical" or re-watching episodes of The Wire or Cheers. He also runs on his own – not particularly fast – and has run the Chicago and New York City Marathons. For all updates on Chavez's running, sports commentary, and social life be sure to give @ChrisChavezSI a follow on Twitter. Chavez would like to thank you for visiting his website to learn more about him and his experience in the journalism world. |
